Institute of Physics 2

The Institute of Solid State Physics investigates the fundamental properties of condensed matter—from electronic transport and quantum phenomena to novel materials and functionalities. With a broad spectrum of methods, including the synthesis of new crystals, fabrication of nanostructures in cleanrooms, electrical characterization down to the lowest temperatures, scanning tunneling microscopy, neutron scattering, as well as optical and time-resolved spectroscopy, and even experiments at particle accelerators around the world, we combine state-of-the-art experimental techniques to understand the fundamental physical processes in quantum materials.
